It's really God's thing anyway. Are we really all that powerful to think that WE can set all the circumstances/ambiance right in a little formula so someone comes to faith? Erik, I can recall many times I felt closest to God when you are leading worship so freely as if there wasn't another person in the room besides you and God. I'm sorry for your muzzle. I believed in Him, but I really felt like he was just a cosmic entity that put the world into motion and gave it a few moments of his time when he felt like it. If I saw someone singing with raised hands, I would think to myself, "Now really, fine if you like to sing, but there's no reason to be FINATICAL about it!" I didn't get the idea of God as a person who truly loves me and wants to have a relationship with me until I went to Alpha. Honestly, if the people around me at Alpha had been luke-warm, I probably would be too. Let your light shine like it was meant to and use plenty of those wonderful jokes that make us all feel at home. You have been blessed with a keen sense of empathy and I seriously doubt you will scare anyone away. I got into a really cool discussion with a bunch of people after reading it about how I interact with each member of the trinity. I of course cling to God as Father, get the Holy Spirit but often struggle most with Jesus. I mean I get Jesus but He is the one area of the Trinity I don't think I have the strongest comprehension of. sigh!Aprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12922439289298655622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11443828.post-23700998492148195142008-07-02T13:40:00.000-07:002008-07-02T13:40:00.000-07:00I always have this problem. We couldn't sell our house last summer, and it was all part of God's plan. The wife got ill, and couldn't home school any more, so the kids are 5 min. from public school. We have been 'waiting' ever since. Hearing Scott talk on Sunday about Jesus quieting the storming and then calling the disciples on their lack of faith was very convicting. During our quiet time on Sunday I read about Abraham. God called him to take all of his possessions and his family and go to Canaan and there he would make Abraham a great nation. When Abraham got to Canaan there was a severe famine. I'll bet he was scratching his head. "Some promise," he must have been thinking. "Guess it was the pizza talking, God wouldn't put me in this situation". This pattern plays out over and over in the bible.

Jesus is baptized and God declares him to be his son and is well pleased with him. Then Jesus is immediately sent into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. It's a test of some kind. It has forced me to look back and recognize all of the ways and times that God has delivered and how thankful I am that I had to wait until just the right moment.

Thanks for the story.Lonnie and Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07766268871901407300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11443828.post-16282014904736410012008-06-20T15:27:00.000-07:002008-06-20T15:27:00.000-07:00Erik!What a great story!
